Article 37 of the French Code of civil procedure

Where jurisdiction depends on the amount of the claim, the court hears all interventions and counterclaims and claims for compensation that are lower than the rate of its jurisdiction even though, taken together with the plaintiff’s claims, they would exceed it.

Lorsque la compétence dépend du montant de la demande, la juridiction connaît de toutes interventions et demandes reconventionnelles et en compensation inférieures au taux de sa compétence alors même que, réunies aux prétentions du demandeur, elles l’excéderaient.
