Article 61-5 of the French Civil Code

Any person of full age or an emancipated minor who demonstrates by a sufficient combination of facts that the entry relating to his or her sex in the civil status records does not correspond to the sex in which he or she presents himself or herself and in which he or she is known may obtain its amendment.

The main facts, proof of which may be provided by any means, may be:

1° That she presents herself publicly as belonging to the claimed sex;

2° That she is known by the claimed sex to her family, friends or professional circle;

3° That she has obtained a change of her first name so that it corresponds to the claimed sex;

Toute personne majeure ou mineure émancipée qui démontre par une réunion suffisante de faits que la mention relative à son sexe dans les actes de l’état civil ne correspond pas à celui dans lequel elle se présente et dans lequel elle est connue peut en obtenir la modification.

Les principaux de ces faits, dont la preuve peut être rapportée par tous moyens, peuvent être :

1° Qu’elle se présente publiquement comme appartenant au sexe revendiqué ;

2° Qu’elle est connue sous le sexe revendiqué de son entourage familial, amical ou professionnel ;

3° Qu’elle a obtenu le changement de son prénom afin qu’il corresponde au sexe revendiqué ;
