Article 706-75-2 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

Notwithstanding the provisions of the second paragraph of Article 380-1, in the event of an appeal against a decision of an assize court whose territorial jurisdiction has been extended to the jurisdiction of one or more courts of appeal for the trial of crimes falling within the scope of articles 706-73, with the exception of 11°, 706-73-1 or 706-74, in cases that are or would appear to be of great complexity, the Criminal Division of the Court of Cassation may designate the same Assize Court, otherwise composed, to hear the appeal.

Par dérogation aux dispositions du deuxième alinéa de l’article 380-1, en cas d’appel d’une décision d’une cour d’assises dont la compétence territoriale est étendue au ressort d’une ou plusieurs cours d’appel pour le jugement des crimes entrant dans le champ d’application des articles 706-73, à l’exception du 11°, 706-73-1 ou 706-74, dans les affaires qui sont ou apparaîtraient d’une grande complexité, la chambre criminelle de la Cour de cassation peut désigner la même cour d’assises, autrement composée, pour connaître de l’appel.
