Article 707-2 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

In criminal or police matters, any convicted person may pay the amount of the fixed procedural fee due pursuant to article 1018 A of the General Tax Code and, where applicable, the amount of the fine to which they have been sentenced, within one month of the date on which the judgment was handed down.

When the convicted person pays the amount of the fixed procedural fee or the amount of the fine under the conditions provided for in the first paragraph, these amounts are reduced by 20% without this reduction exceeding €1,500.

If an appeal is lodged against the penal provisions of the decision, the sums paid shall be refunded at the request of the interested party.

A decree in the Conseil d’Etat shall determine the terms of application of this article.

Article 707-2

En matière correctionnelle ou de police, toute personne condamnée peut s’acquitter du montant du droit fixe de procédure dû en application de l’article 1018 A du code général des impôts ainsi que, le cas échéant, du montant de l’amende à laquelle elle a été condamnée, dans un délai d’un mois à compter de la date à laquelle le jugement a été prononcé.

Lorsque le condamné règle le montant du droit fixe de procédure ou le montant de l’amende dans les conditions prévues au premier alinéa, ces montants sont diminués de 20 % sans que cette diminution puisse excéder 1 500 euros.

Dans le cas où une voie de recours est exercée contre les dispositions pénales de la décision, il est procédé, sur demande de l’intéressé, à la restitution des sommes versées.

Un décret en Conseil d’Etat détermine les modalités d’application du présent article.
