Article A322-164 of the French Sports Code

In addition to informing the Prefect of the département, the operator of the establishment must inform the Minister for Sport, within forty-eight hours, of any serious accident occurring in the establishment, specifying the identity of the victim, the circumstances and the location of the accident.

A fatal accident or a serious personal injury accident involving parachuting gives rise to an investigation, initiated by the Minister for Sport or by the Prefect of the département where the accident occurred. An expert is appointed to carry out the necessary on-site investigations and draw up an initial information report.

Outre le préfet du département, l’exploitant de l’établissement informe, sous quarante-huit heures, le ministre chargé des sports de tout accident grave survenu dans l’établissement, en précisant l’identité de la victime, les circonstances et le lieu de l’accident.

Un accident mortel ou un accident corporel grave de parachutisme donne lieu à une enquête, déclenchée par le ministre chargé des sports ou par le préfet du département du lieu de l’accident. Un expert est désigné pour effectuer les investigations nécessaires sur place et rédiger un rapport de première information.
