Article ANNEXE, art. 11 of the French Code of civil procedure

The guardianship court takes jurisdiction ex officio to organise guardianship in the cases provided for by law, as well as to take any protective measures in matters of legal administration, inheritance and guardianship of those not present.

The territorial jurisdiction of the guardianship judge is determined by Articles 393 and 394 of the Civil Code.

Le tribunal judiciaire se saisit d’office pour organiser la tutelle dans les cas prévus par la loi ainsi que pour prendre toute mesure conservatoire en matière d’administration légale, de succession et de curatelle des non-présents.

La compétence territoriale du juge des tutelles est déterminée par les articles 393 et 394 du code civil.
