Article D117 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The exceptional reduction in sentence provided for by article 721-3 as well as that provided for by article 721-4 may be granted in one or more instalments without exceeding one third of the sentence handed down. To determine the maximum quantum, account is taken of all sentences to be served or in prison on the date of the request. In all cases, the sentence enforcement judge or court shall specify in its decision the sentence or sentences taken into account to calculate the maximum quantum of the exceptional sentence reduction.

La réduction de peine exceptionnelle prévue par l’article 721-3 ainsi que celle prévue par l’article 721-4 peut être accordée en une ou plusieurs fois sans dépasser le tiers de la peine prononcée. Pour la détermination du quantum maximum, il est tenu compte de l’ensemble des condamnations à exécuter ou figurant à l’écrou au jour de la requête. Dans tous les cas, le juge ou le tribunal de l’application des peines précise dans sa décision la ou les peines prises en compte pour le calcul du quantum maximum de la réduction de peine exceptionnelle.
