Article D1242-3 of the French Labour Code

Pursuant to 2° of article L. 1242-3, a fixed-term employment contract may be concluded where the employer undertakes to provide additional vocational training to:

1° Candidates undertaking a training course with a view to gaining access to an educational establishment;

2° Pupils or former pupils of an educational establishment undertaking an application training course;

3° Foreigners coming to France with a view to acquiring additional vocational training;

4° Beneficiaries of individual financial aid for training through research.

En application du 2° de l’article L. 1242-3, un contrat de travail à durée déterminée peut être conclu lorsque l’employeur s’engage à assurer un complément de formation professionnelle aux :


1° Candidats effectuant un stage en vue d’accéder à un établissement d’enseignement ;


2° Elèves ou anciens élèves d’un établissement d’enseignement effectuant un stage d’application ;


3° Etrangers venant en France en vue d’acquérir un complément de formation professionnelle ;


4° Bénéficiaires d’une aide financière individuelle à la formation par la recherche.
