Article D1442-26 of the French Labour Code

Honorary status may be conferred by order of the Minister of Justice to former chairmen and members of industrial tribunals who have served for twelve years.
This order is made on the proposal of the president of the judicial court in whose jurisdiction the seat of the industrial tribunal is located, after consulting the general assembly of the industrial tribunal.
Honorary status may be withdrawn in accordance with the same procedure.

L’honorariat peut être conféré par arrêté du garde des sceaux, ministre de la justice, aux anciens présidents et aux anciens membres des conseils de prud’hommes ayant exercé leurs fonctions pendant douze ans.
Cet arrêté est pris sur proposition du président du tribunal judiciaire dans le ressort duquel est situé le siège du conseil, après avis de l’assemblée générale du conseil de prud’hommes.
L’honorariat peut être retiré suivant la même procédure.
