Article D15-5-1-1 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The operations provided for by articles 55-1 and 706-56 may be carried out, on the instructions of a judicial police officer, by a judicial police officer, or by a specialised agent, technician or engineer of the technical and forensic police.

In the case provided for in the previous paragraph and that provided for in article D. 7, when the criminal investigation police officers, specialised officers, technicians or engineers of the technical and forensic police proceed, in accordance with the instructions of a criminal investigation police officer, to take samples and place under seal biological samples, objects and traces and clues useful in establishing the truth, for the purposes of technical and scientific examinations, they draw up an inventory of them and mention them in their report.

Les opérations prévues par les articles 55-1 et 706-56 peuvent être effectuées, sur instruction d’un officier de police judiciaire, par un agent de police judiciaire, ou par un agent spécialisé, technicien ou ingénieur de police technique et scientifique.

Dans le cas prévu à l’alinéa précédent et celui prévu par l’article D. 7, lorsque les agents de police judiciaire, les agents spécialisés, techniciens ou ingénieurs de police technique et scientifique procèdent, conformément aux instructions d’un officier de police judiciaire, aux prélèvements et au placement sous scellés des échantillons biologiques, des objets et des traces et indices utiles à la manifestation de la vérité, aux fins d’examens techniques et scientifiques, ils en dressent inventaire et en font mention dans leur rapport.
