Article D311-6 of the French Tourism Code

Operators wishing to obtain classification must submit their application electronically to the body referred to in Article L. 141-2 , together with a visit certificate issued by a type A or C assessment body accredited to inspect hotels by the French Accreditation Committee (COFRAC) or any equivalent European body in accordance with Article L. 311-6.

An order by the Minister for Tourism specifies the procedure to be followed and the format of the application file.

L’exploitant qui souhaite obtenir le classement transmet par voie électronique à l’organisme mentionné à l’article L. 141-2 sa demande accompagnée du certificat de visite délivré par un organisme évaluateur de type A ou C accrédité pour le contrôle des hôtels par le Comité français d’accréditation (COFRAC) ou tout organisme européen équivalent conformément à l’article L. 311-6.

Un arrêté du ministre chargé du tourisme précise la procédure à suivre et le format du dossier de demande.
