Article D3231-8 of the French Labour Code

The provisions of this sub-section do not apply to employees in agricultural occupations, merchant navy seagoing personnel, caretakers and employees of residential buildings and domestic servants when part of their remuneration usually consists of the provision of food and accommodation.

Les dispositions de la présente sous-section ne sont pas applicables aux salariés des professions agricoles, au personnel navigant de la marine marchande, aux concierges et employés d’immeuble à usage d’habitation ainsi qu’aux employés de maison lorsque leur rémunération est, de manière habituelle, constituée, pour partie, par la fourniture de la nourriture et du logement.
