Article D325-1 of the French Tourism Code

A holiday village is any accommodation centre, whether or not commercially run as a whole, intended to provide holiday accommodation at an all-inclusive price including, in addition to board and lodging, the use of shared facilities, sports installations and community entertainment.

Only those that meet the conditions listed in articles D. 325-2 et seq. may be designated as holiday villages.

Non-profit-making establishments of a specifically social nature, having the character of family holiday homes, remain subject to their own regulations.

Article D325-1

Est considéré comme village de vacances tout centre d’hébergement, faisant l’objet d’une exploitation globale de caractère commercial ou non, destiné à assurer des séjours de vacances, selon un prix forfaitaire comportant, outre la pension, l’usage d’équipements communs, d’installations sportives et de distractions collectives.

Peuvent seuls être dénommés villages de vacances ceux qui satisfont aux conditions énumérées aux articles D. 325-2 et suivants.

Les établissements à but non lucratif et à caractère spécifiquement social, ayant le caractère de maisons familiales de vacances, demeurent soumis à la réglementation qui leur est propre.
