Article D4151-16 of the French Public Health Code

Validation of the work placements is certified by the director of the higher education establishment offering training in midwifery. The student midwife submits this certificate to the Conseil départemental de l’ordre within whose jurisdiction he or she wishes to carry out a replacement.

Authorisation is issued under the conditions set out in article L. 4151-6 for a maximum period of three months. It may be renewed in accordance with the same procedure and for the same period.

No authorisation or renewal of authorisation may be issued after the second year following expiry of the normal duration of the specific training required to obtain the State diploma in midwifery.

La validation des stages est attestée par le directeur de l’établissement d’enseignement supérieur offrant des formations en maïeutique. L’étudiant sage-femme produit cette attestation auprès du conseil départemental de l’ordre dans le ressort duquel il souhaite effectuer un remplacement.

L’autorisation est délivrée dans les conditions prévues à l’article L. 4151-6 pour une période maximale de trois mois. Elle est renouvelable selon la même procédure et pour la même durée.

Aucune autorisation ou aucun renouvellement d’autorisation ne peut être délivré au-delà de la deuxième année suivant l’expiration de la durée normale de la formation spécifique prévue pour obtenir le diplôme d’Etat de sage-femme.
