Article D4211-12 of the French Public Health Code

Where the use of medicinal plants listed in the Pharmacopoeia has been authorised in food supplements pursuant to decree no. 2006-352 of 20 March 2006 relating to food supplements, these food supplements may be sold by persons other than pharmacists.

However, the previous paragraph does not apply to food supplements containing medicinal plants or parts of plants which appear on the list published in chapter IV. 7.B. of the French Pharmacopoeia, under the conditions set out in article R. 5112-2 of the Public Health Code.

Lorsque l’emploi de plantes médicinales inscrites à la Pharmacopée a été autorisé dans les compléments alimentaires en application du décret n° 2006-352 du 20 mars 2006 relatif aux compléments alimentaires, ces compléments alimentaires peuvent être vendus par des personnes autres que des pharmaciens.


Toutefois, l’alinéa précédent ne s’applique pas aux compléments alimentaires contenant des plantes ou parties de plantes médicinales qui figurent sur la liste publiée au chapitre IV. 7.B. de la Pharmacopée française, dans les conditions prévues à l’article R. 5112-2 du code de la santé publique.
