Article D49-8 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The first president of the court of appeal shall designate by order, after consulting the general assembly of judges, the president or the councillor of the court of appeal responsible for presiding over the enforcement of sentences chamber of the court of appeal, as well as the two councillors of this chamber.

The president of the chamber or one or more of its members shall be chosen from among the councillors responsible for the enforcement of sentences appointed in accordance with the provisions of Article R. 57-1.

Le premier président de la cour d’appel désigne par ordonnance, après avis de l’assemblée générale des magistrats du siège, le président ou le conseiller de la cour d’appel chargé de présider la chambre de l’application des peines de la cour d’appel, ainsi que les deux conseillers de cette chambre.

Le président de la chambre ou l’un ou plusieurs de ses membres sont choisis parmi le ou les conseillers chargés de l’application des peines désignés conformément aux dispositions de l’article R. 57-1.
