The medical staff working in a neurosurgery inpatient unit include:
1° At least two qualified doctors specialising in neurosurgery ;
2° Anaesthetists on the basis of a protocol agreed with the neurosurgeons;
3° Qualified doctors specialising in other disciplines for non-operative care activities to ensure the management of neurosurgical patients as required.
In addition to nurses and care assistants, the non-medical staff working on a daily basis in neurosurgery hospital units include physiotherapists and, where necessary, a speech therapist, an occupational therapist, a social worker and a psychologist.
For each neurosurgery operation, the paramedical staff includes at least two nurses or protected interventional unit nurses.
For each intracranial and extracranial radiosurgery operation under stereotactic conditions, the staff includes at least :
1° A neurosurgeon ;
2° A neuroradiologist ;
3° A radiotherapist ;
4° A radiophysicist;
5° Where necessary, an anaesthetist assisted by a nurse anaesthetist, a nurse or protected interventional nurse, a medical electroradiology technician and a neurophysiology technician.
