I. – The hospitalisation sector of a critical care unit comprises a minimum number of beds determined as follows :
1° At least eight beds for the intensive care unit referred to in 1° of article R. 6123-34-1. In the event of the creation of a new hospitalisation sector, or the reconstruction or redevelopment of an existing sector, the unit must include at least ten beds;
2° At least six beds for the multi-purpose intensive care unit or the specialised intensive care unit referred to in 1° of Article R. 6123-34-1;
3° At least six beds for the derogatory multi-purpose intensive care unit in section 2 of article R. 6123-34-1;
In the event of the creation of a hospitalisation sector, or the reconstruction or redevelopment of an existing sector, the unit must include at least eight beds.
4° At least six beds for the cardiology intensive care unit referred to in 3° of Article R. 6123-34-1 ;
5° At least four beds for the vascular neurology intensive care unit referred to in 4° of article R. 6123-34-1 ;
6° At least six beds for the haematology intensive care unit as described in 5° of article R. 6123-34-1.
II. – By way of derogation from I, the Director General of the Regional Health Agency may authorise the holder of designation 1° mentioned in article R. 6123-34-1 to have a unit with at least six intensive care beds, when a significant proportion of the population has to travel excessively long distances.
