Article D6124-401 of the French Public Health Code

The general organisation, staff, equipment and all services of a surgical clinic must be adapted to the maximum number of patients that can normally be admitted and operated on.

Any new facility must have a minimum of fifteen beds.

However, in the case of establishments specialising in treatments generally requiring only short-term hospitalisation, the number of beds may be fewer but not less than four.

L’organisation générale, le personnel, le matériel et tous les services d’une clinique chirurgicale doivent être fonction du nombre maximal de malades pouvant y être normalement admis et opérés.

Toute nouvelle installation doit comporter un minimum de quinze lits.

Toutefois, dans le cas d’établissements spécialisés dans les traitements ne nécessitant en général qu’une hospitalisation de courte durée, le nombre de lits peut être moindre sans être inférieur à quatre.
