The haemodialysis centre has a medical team of at least two nephrologists. For more than fifteen chronic treatment units, this team includes one additional nephrologist for every eight units. At least one nephrologist ensures a permanent medical presence on the health care establishment’s site throughout haemodialysis sessions. Each of these nephrologists is qualified or competent in nephrology. The number of medical staff must comply with the authorisation decision and the good practice criteria validated by the Haute Autorité de Santé.
In health establishments with a nephrology intensive care unit, supervision may be temporarily entrusted to the nephrologist on duty.
Outside the centre’s opening hours, a nephrologist from the aforementioned medical team will be on call. This on-call duty may cover the various dialysis modalities that the establishment is authorised to perform. It may also cover treatment activities carried out by several health care organisations, when they are linked by a cooperation agreement provided for in article R. 6123-55.
In health establishments with a nephrology intensive care unit, the on-call duty may be carried out by the nephrologist on duty in this unit.
The haemodialysis centre provides each patient with a regular nephrology consultation with a full medical examination in a consultation room.
The haemodialysis centre works with a cardiologist, an anaesthetist-resuscitator or a medical resuscitator, a surgeon and a radiologist.
