All the care procedures required for each treatment session for haemodialysis patients in the centre are carried out by the team of nursing staff. This team, led by a nurse manager or by a nurse, ensures the permanent presence during the session of at least one nurse for every four patients and one care assistant, or possibly another nurse, for every eight patients.
When the haemodialysis centre provides long sessions, lasting at least six hours, for all the patients in the session, the team ensures that at least one nurse is present for every five patients and one healthcare assistant for every ten patients.
During home dialysis or self-dialysis training sessions, an additional nurse is present at all times.
Outside the centre’s opening hours, one of the nurses from the above-mentioned team is on call.
In health establishments with a nephrology intensive care unit, a nurse from this unit may be on call.
