The implementation of home haemodialysis, as defined in article R. 6123-66, is managed by a healthcare establishment, which holds an authorisation to treat chronic renal failure by means of extrarenal purification. This healthcare establishment installs a haemodialysis machine and a system producing water for haemodialysis in the home of the patient it cares for.
It also provides the medicines, items and products directly involved in carrying out the haemodialysis treatment.
Home haemodialysis is offered to patients who have been trained in this technique and who are able to carry out all the procedures necessary for their treatment themselves, in the presence of a third party who can provide assistance. The patient’s home or place of residence is suitable for haemodialysis in conditions of sufficient safety and comfort. The assistance of a nurse may be requested.
