The pre-anaesthetic consultation mentioned in 1° of article D. 6124-91 takes place several days before the operation.
If the patient is not yet hospitalised :
1° For public and private health establishments of collective interest, it is carried out as part of outpatient consultations;
2° For private health establishments covered by the provisions of article L. 6114-3, it is carried out either in the practice of the anaesthetist or on the establishment’s premises.
This consultation is carried out by an anaesthetist. The results are recorded in a written document, including the results of any additional examinations and any specialist consultations. This document is inserted into the patient’s medical file.
The pre-anaesthetic consultation does not replace the pre-anaesthetic visit, which is carried out by an anaesthetist-intensive care doctor in the twenty-four hours prior to the procedure requiring anaesthesia. The purpose of this visit is to check that there have been no new medical elements since the pre-anaesthetic consultation.
