When the patient’s state of health allows, the post-intervention monitoring provided for in article D. 6124-97 may be carried out in a room or in the specific adapted area provided for in article D. 6124-302, provided that all of the following conditions are met:
1° Patients are monitored by a nurse whose qualifications are appropriate for this type of monitoring;
2° The operation was carried out without incident intraoperatively under topical anaesthesia alone or under peripheral locoregional anaesthesia without associated intravenous anaesthesia or sedation;
3° The decision to transfer the patient directly from the operating theatre to the room or specific adapted area mentioned in the first paragraph is taken by the intensive care anaesthetist who performed the anaesthesia for the operation, in agreement with the doctor who performed the operation, in accordance with a written procedure under the responsibility of an intensive care anaesthetist;
4° In the rooms where the specific adapted areas mentioned in the first paragraph are available, the resources required for the immediate management of a complication following the anaesthesia or the procedure which required the anaesthesia, are available and can be used without delay, if necessary by providing an emergency trolley which is accessible at all times.
5° An anaesthetist-intensive care doctor can be contacted without delay and according to a written procedure under the responsibility of an anaesthetist-intensive care doctor, to intervene with the patient.
