The French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons is administered by a Board of Directors, which sets the general guidelines for the Office’s activity and deliberates on the procedures for implementing the provisions relating to the granting of refugee status, subsidiary protection and stateless status. The Board of Directors shall also draw up the list of countries considered to be safe countries of origin under the conditions laid down in Article L. 531-25. .
The Board of Directors comprises:
1° Two deputies and two senators;
2° Two representatives of France in the European Parliament, one woman and one man, appointed by decree;
3° State representatives; these are two people, one man and one woman, appointed by the Prime Minister, a representative of the Minister of the Interior, a representative of the Minister responsible for asylum, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Director of Civil Affairs and the Seal at the Ministry of Justice, a representative of the Minister responsible for Social Affairs, a representative of the Minister responsible for Women’s Rights, a representative of the Minister responsible for Overseas Territories and the Director of the Budget at the Ministry responsible for the Budget;
4° A representative of the Office’s staff.
