Article L131-69 of the French Monetary and Financial Code

Any drawer who issues a cheque without indicating the place of issue or without a date, or who covers a cheque with a false date, or who draws a cheque on a person other than a banker, is liable to a fine of up to 6% of the amount for which the cheque is drawn, but not less than 0.75 euros.

Le tireur qui émet un chèque ne portant pas l’indication du lieu de l’émission ou sans date, celui qui revêt un chèque d’une fausse date, celui qui tire un chèque sur une personne autre qu’un banquier, est passible d’une amende maximale de 6 % de la somme pour laquelle le chèque est tiré, sans que cette amende puisse être inférieure à 0,75 euro.
