I.-Procedures using ionising radiation carried out for the purposes of medical diagnosis, therapeutic management, screening, prevention or biomedical research are subject to an obligation of quality assurance from the justification of the choice of procedure, the optimisation of doses delivered to patients and through to the delivery of the results of this procedure.
II.-Professionals performing radiodiagnostic, radiotherapy or nuclear medicine procedures for the purposes of medical diagnosis, therapeutic management, screening, prevention or biomedical research exposing people to ionising radiation and professionals involved in performing these procedures and checking the reception and performance of medical devices must receive theoretical and practical training in their area of expertise relating to the practical exercise and protection of people exposed for medical purposes covered, where applicable, by articles L. 6313-1 to L. 6313-11 of the French Labour Code.
Health professionals requesting medical diagnostic procedures using ionising radiation must receive initial and continuing training on the risks associated with ionising radiation and on the application to these procedures of the principle of justification mentioned in article L. 1333-2.
III – Medical physicists employed by public health establishments are non-tenured employees of these establishments. The special provisions applicable to them in view of the specific nature of their activity are laid down by regulation.
