Article L175-2 of the French Insurance Code

In the event of the alienation of the aircraft and the cessation of its operation, the insurance cover ceases ipso jure in respect only of the alienated aircraft from midnight on the day following the day of alienation.

In the event of continued operation of the aircraft, the insurance cover shall continue ipso jure. However, the parties may terminate these guarantees within one month of notification of the alienation. Cancellation will take effect fifteen days after notification.

Premiums remain due in proportion to the period accrued since the effective date of the contract.

The policyholder must inform the insurer of the date of alienation.

En cas d’aliénation de l’aéronef et de la cessation d’exploitation de celui-ci, les garanties d’assurance cessent de plein droit pour ce qui concerne seulement l’aéronef aliéné à partir du lendemain, à zéro heure, du jour de l’aliénation.


En cas de poursuite de l’exploitation de l’aéronef, les garanties d’assurance continuent de plein droit. Toutefois, les parties peuvent résilier ces garanties dans le délai d’un mois à compter de la notification de l’aliénation. La résiliation prendra effet quinze jours après sa notification.


Les primes restent dues en proportion de la période courue depuis la date d’effet du contrat.


Le souscripteur doit informer l’assureur de la date d’aliénation.
