The policing of aerodromes and aeronautical installations, as defined in the previous article, is ensured, subject to the powers of the military authority with regard to aerodromes and installations dependent on national defence, by the prefect who exercises, for this purpose within their boundaries, the powers granted to the mayor by article L. 2212-2 of the general code of local authorities.
A decree by the Conseil d’Etat shall determine the procedures for applying the provisions of the previous paragraph, as well as the conditions under which a prefect shall be entrusted with the powers referred to in the said paragraph, when the aerodrome’s boundaries extend over several départements.
The provisions of this article apply to Mayotte, the Wallis and Futuna Islands, French Polynesia and New Caledonia, subject to the following provisions:
a) The word “préfet” is replaced by the words “représentant de l’Etat”;
b) The reference to article L. 2212-2 of the General Local Authorities Code is replaced, for application in French Polynesia, by the reference to article L. 131-2 of the Municipalities Code and, for application in New Caledonia, by the reference to article L. 131-2 of the Municipalities Code of New Caledonia;
c) In the first paragraph, the words: “which exercises… code général des collectivités territoriales. “are deleted for application in the Wallis and Futuna Islands.
