Article L2141-3-1 of the French Public Health Code

Research carried out in the context of medically assisted procreation may be carried out on gametes intended to constitute an embryo or on an embryo conceived in vitro before or after its transfer for the purpose of gestation, if each member of the couple or the unmarried woman consents. Within this framework, no intervention designed to modify the genome of the gametes or the embryo may be undertaken. Such research shall be conducted under the conditions laid down in Title II of Book I of Part One.

Des recherches menées dans le cadre de l’assistance médicale à la procréation peuvent être réalisées sur des gamètes destinés à constituer un embryon ou sur un embryon conçu in vitro avant ou après son transfert à des fins de gestation, si chaque membre du couple ou la femme non mariée y consent. Dans ce cadre, aucune intervention ayant pour objet de modifier le génome des gamètes ou de l’embryon ne peut être entreprise. Ces recherches sont conduites dans les conditions fixées au titre II du livre Ier de la première partie.
