Article L219-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code

Articles L. 219-2 to L. 219-4 apply to any service qualified as a provider of an online content sharing service within the meaning of article L. 137-1. The provisions set out in III of Article L. 219-2 do not apply to online public communication services whose purpose is to infringe copyright and related rights.

Les articles L. 219-2 à L. 219-4 s’appliquent à tout service qualifié de fournisseur d’un service de partage de contenus en ligne au sens de l’article L. 137-1. Les dispositions prévues au III de l’article L. 219-2 ne s’appliquent pas aux services de communication au public en ligne dont l’objet est de porter atteinte aux droits d’auteurs et aux droits voisins.
