Article L2261-15 of the French Labour Code

The provisions of a branch agreement or a professional or cross-industry agreement that meet the specific conditions determined by sub-section 2 may be made compulsory for all employees and employers included in the scope of application of this agreement, by order of the Minister responsible for labour, after receiving the reasoned opinion of the National Commission for Collective Bargaining, Employment and Vocational Training.

The effects and sanctions of the agreement are extended for the duration and under the conditions laid down by the agreement in question.

Les stipulations d’une convention de branche ou d’un accord professionnel ou interprofessionnel, répondant aux conditions particulières déterminées par la sous-section 2, peuvent être rendues obligatoires pour tous les salariés et employeurs compris dans le champ d’application de cette convention ou de cet accord, par arrêté du ministre chargé du travail, après avis motivé de la Commission nationale de la négociation collective, de l’emploi et de la formation professionnelle.

L’extension des effets et des sanctions de la convention ou de l’accord se fait pour la durée et aux conditions prévues par la convention ou l’accord en cause.
