Article L2261-24 of the French Labour Code

The procedure for extending a branch agreement or a professional or cross-industry agreement is initiated at the request of one of the representative employers’ or employees’ organisations mentioned in article L. 2261-19 or at the initiative of the Minister responsible for labour, after receiving the reasoned opinion of the National Commission for Collective Bargaining, Employment and Vocational Training.

Upon receipt of this request, the Minister responsible for labour will immediately initiate the extension procedure.

La procédure d’extension d’une convention de branche ou d’un accord professionnel ou interprofessionnel est engagée à la demande d’une des organisations d’employeurs ou de salariés représentatives mentionnées à l’article L. 2261-19 ou à l’initiative du ministre chargé du travail, après avis motivé de la Commission nationale de la négociation collective, de l’emploi et de la formation professionnelle.

Saisi de cette demande, le ministre chargé du travail engage sans délai la procédure d’extension.
