I.- For the purposes of this Title, an athlete is any person who participates in or prepares for:
1° Either in a sporting event organised by an approved federation or authorised by a delegated federation ;
2° A sporting event where prizes are awarded in money or in kind, even if it is not organised by an approved federation or authorised by a delegated federation;
3° An international sporting event or an event falling within the scope of an anti-doping organisation that is a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code.
II – For the purposes of this Title, a national-level athlete is any person competing in a sport at national level, as defined by a decision of the College of the Agence française de lutte contre le dopage (French Anti-Doping Agency), taking into account, in particular, his or her sporting level and the sport practised, and who is not an international-level athlete.
III – An international-level athlete within the meaning of this Title is any person competing in a sport at international level, as defined by each federation mentioned in 3° of the I ofArticle L. 230-2.
IV -A recreational athlete within the meaning of this Title is any person competing in sport at recreational level, as defined by a decision of the College of the French Anti-Doping Agency. This definition may not include any person who, in the five years prior to the commission of an anti-doping rule violation, was an international-level athlete or a national-level athlete, represented a country in an international event, excluding competitions limited to youth or age-group categories, or was included in a Registered Testing Pool or other pool established by an International Federation or National Anti-Doping Organisation to provide whereabouts information.
