Article L315-11 of the French Consumer Code

The offer cannot be accepted until ten days after it has been received by the borrower. Until the offer is accepted by the borrower, no payment in any form whatsoever may be made by the lender to the borrower or on the borrower’s behalf, or by the borrower to the lender, in respect of the transaction in question.
Until such acceptance, the borrower may not, in the same way, make any deposit, subscribe to or endorse any commercial paper or sign any cheque. If a direct debit authorisation from a bank or post office account is signed by the borrower, its validity and effectiveness are subject to that of the credit agreement.

L’acceptation de l’offre ne peut intervenir que dix jours après sa réception par l’emprunteur. Elle fait alors l’objet d’un acte notarié.
Jusqu’à l’acceptation de l’offre par l’emprunteur, aucun versement sous quelque forme que ce soit ne peut être fait, au titre de l’opération en cause, par le prêteur à l’emprunteur ou pour le compte de celui-ci, ni par l’emprunteur au prêteur.
Jusqu’à cette acceptation, l’emprunteur ne peut, au même titre, faire aucun dépôt, souscrire ou avaliser aucun effet de commerce ou signer aucun chèque. Si une autorisation de prélèvement sur compte bancaire ou postal est signée par l’emprunteur, sa validité et sa prise d’effet sont subordonnées à celle du contrat de crédit.
