Article L315-19 of the French Consumer Code

The borrower may, in the case of periodic capital payments, request a suspension or modification of the payment schedule.
These adjustments are made at the conventional rate defined in the main contract and give rise to the drawing up of a new statement of the periodic payments and the interest accumulated on these sums for the forecast period of the loan remaining to run. The capital and interest portions are shown separately.
Modifications aimed at accelerating payments may be made in accordance with the contractual stipulations.

L’emprunteur peut, en cas de versements périodiques du capital, demander une suspension ou une modification de l’échéancier des versements.
Ces aménagements se font au taux conventionnel défini au contrat principal et donnent lieu à l’établissement d’un nouvel état des versements périodiques et des intérêts accumulés sur ces sommes pour la durée prévisionnelle du prêt restant à courir. La part du capital et celle des intérêts apparaissent de manière distincte.
Les modifications visant à accélérer les versements peuvent intervenir conformément aux stipulations contractuelles.
