Article L3262-1 of the French Labour Code

The meal voucher is a special payment voucher issued by the employer to employees to enable them to pay for all or part of the cost of a meal consumed in a restaurant or purchased from a person or organisation mentioned in the second paragraph of article L. 3262-3. This meal may consist of fruit and vegetables, whether or not they are directly consumable.

These vouchers are issued :

1° Either by the employer for the benefit of employees directly or through the social and economic committee;

2° Or by a specialised company which sells them to the employer in return for payment of the value in full discharge of liabilities and, where applicable, a commission.

A decree determines the conditions of application of this article.

Article L3262-1

Le titre-restaurant est un titre spécial de paiement remis par l’employeur aux salariés pour leur permettre d’acquitter en tout ou en partie le prix du repas consommé au restaurant ou acheté auprès d’une personne ou d’un organisme mentionné au deuxième alinéa de l’article L. 3262-3. Ce repas peut être composé de fruits et légumes, qu’ils soient ou non directement consommables.

Ces titres sont émis :

1° Soit par l’employeur au profit des salariés directement ou par l’intermédiaire du comité social et économique ;

2° Soit par une entreprise spécialisée qui les cède à l’employeur contre paiement de leur valeur libératoire et, le cas échéant, d’une commission.

Un décret détermine les conditions d’application du présent article.
