Article L412-6 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

No residence document may be issued to a foreigner living in France in a state of polygamy. Any residence document held by a foreigner in such a situation will be withdrawn.

The situation of the spouse of a foreign national referred to in the first paragraph is examined on an individual basis. When ruling on the right of residence, the administrative authority will take account of the non-consensual nature of the polygamous situation

Aucun document de séjour ne peut être délivré à un étranger qui vit en France en état de polygamie. Tout document de séjour détenu par un étranger dans une telle situation est retiré.

La situation du conjoint d’un étranger mentionné au premier alinéa fait l’objet d’un examen individuel. Pour statuer sur son droit au séjour, l’autorité administrative tient compte du caractère non consenti de la situation de polygamie
