Article L432-4 of the French Consumer Code

It is prohibited:
1° To issue a protected designation of origin, a protected geographical indication or a traditional speciality guaranteed without meeting the conditions laid down in article L. 642-3 du code rural et de la pêche maritime;
2° To issue a protected designation of origin, a protected geographical indication or a traditional speciality guaranteed which has not been the subject of the approval provided for respectively in articles L. 641-10, L. 641-11 and L. 641-12 of the French Rural and Maritime Fishing Code;
3° Fraudulently using or attempting to use a protected designation of origin, a protected geographical indication or a traditional speciality guaranteed;
4° Affixing or causing to appear, by addition, deletion or by any alteration whatsoever, on products, natural or manufactured, offered for sale or intended to be offered for sale, a protected designation of origin, a protected geographical indication or a traditional speciality guaranteed knowing them to be inaccurate;
5° Using a method of presentation that leads to the belief or is likely to lead to the belief that a product benefits from a protected designation of origin, a protected geographical indication or a traditional speciality guaranteed;
6° Leading to the belief or attempting to lead to the belief that a product with a traditional speciality guaranteed, a protected designation of origin or a protected geographical indication is guaranteed by the State or a public body.

Article L432-4

Il est interdit :
1° De délivrer une appellation d’origine protégée, une indication géographique protégée ou une spécialité traditionnelle garantie sans satisfaire aux conditions prévues à l’article L. 642-3 du code rural et de la pêche maritime ;
2° De délivrer une appellation d’origine protégée, une indication géographique protégée ou une spécialité traditionnelle garantie qui n’a pas fait l’objet de l’homologation prévue respectivement aux articles L. 641-10, L. 641-11 et L. 641-12 du code rural et de la pêche maritime ;
3° D’utiliser ou de tenter d’utiliser frauduleusement une appellation d’origine protégée, une indication géographique protégée ou une spécialité traditionnelle garantie ;
4° D’apposer ou de faire apparaître, par addition, retranchement ou par une altération quelconque, sur des produits, naturels ou fabriqués, mis en vente ou destinés à être mis en vente, une appellation d’origine protégée, une indication géographique protégée ou une spécialité traditionnelle garantie en les sachant inexactes ;
5° D’utiliser un mode de présentation faisant croire ou de nature à faire croire qu’un produit bénéficie d’une appellation d’origine protégée, d’une indication géographique protégée ou d’une spécialité traditionnelle garantie ;
6° De faire croire ou de tenter de faire croire qu’un produit assorti d’une spécialité traditionnelle garantie, d’une appellation d’origine protégée ou d’une indication géographique protégée est garanti par l’Etat ou par un organisme public.
