Article L4361-1 of the French Public Health Code

Any person who fits hearing aids to hearing impaired people is considered to be practising the profession of hearing aid acoustician.

This includes selecting, fitting, dispensing and checking the immediate and permanent effectiveness of the hearing aid and the prosthetic education of the hearing impaired person fitted with the aid.

All hearing aids are issued subject to a prior, compulsory medical prescription to wear a hearing aid, following an otological examination and tonal and vocal audiometry.

Est considérée comme exerçant la profession d’audioprothésiste toute personne qui procède à l’appareillage des déficients de l’ouïe.

Cet appareillage comprend le choix, l’adaptation, la délivrance, le contrôle d’efficacité immédiate et permanente de la prothèse auditive et l’éducation prothétique du déficient de l’ouïe appareillé.

La délivrance de chaque appareil de prothèse auditive est soumise à la prescription médicale préalable et obligatoire du port d’un appareil, après examen otologique et audiométrique tonal et vocal.
