Article L521-12 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

As soon as possible after an unaccompanied minor has lodged an asylum application, the administrative authority conducts a search for the members of his or her family, while protecting the best interests of the minor. In cases where the life or physical integrity of a minor or his or her close relatives could be threatened, this search is carried out confidentially.

Dès que possible après la présentation d’une demande d’asile par un mineur non accompagné, l’autorité administrative procède à la recherche des membres de sa famille, tout en protégeant l’intérêt supérieur du mineur. Dans les cas où la vie ou l’intégrité physique d’un mineur ou de ses parents proches pourrait être menacée, cette recherche est menée de manière confidentielle.
