Article L521-4 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

Registration takes place no later than three working days after the asylum application is submitted to the competent administrative authority, with no prior requirement for residence. However, this time limit may be extended to ten working days when a large number of foreign nationals apply for asylum simultaneously.

L’enregistrement a lieu au plus tard trois jours ouvrés après la présentation de la demande d’asile à l’autorité administrative compétente, sans condition préalable de domiciliation.
