The territorial public health establishment of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon is responsible for a general mission of prevention and care, with or without accommodation.
This establishment receives assistance from the State for accommodation services not covered by the health insurance scheme.
It carries out the tasks defined in Chapters I and II of Title I of Book I of this Part, in particular the diagnosis and treatment of the sick, injured and pregnant women. It also provides home care to people who request it. It provides medical transport as defined in Title I of Book III of this Part, with the exception of transport to destinations outside the territory of the archipelago of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.
It carries out the tasks devolved to the department in the areas defined by article L. 1423-1.
In addition, it is responsible for
1° The retail sale of medicines, products and objects mentioned in articles L. 4211-1 and L. 5111-1 as well as medical devices defined in article L. 5211-1. Notwithstanding the provisions of 1° of article L. 5126-8, authorisation to sell to the public is permanent;
2° Border health checks as defined in Chapter V of Title I of Book I of Part III;
3° Examinations and controls necessary for the protection of public health as provided for in Book III of Part I.
It contributes to health education.
It may ensure the management of social establishments existing in the territorial community.
