Article L631-1 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The administrative authority may decide to expel a foreign national when his or her presence in France constitutes a serious threat to public order, subject to the conditions specific to foreign nationals mentioned in articles L. 631-2 and L. 631-3.

L’autorité administrative peut décider d’expulser un étranger lorsque sa présence en France constitue une menace grave pour l’ordre public, sous réserve des conditions propres aux étrangers mentionnés aux articles L. 631-2 et L. 631-3.
