Article L6322-2 of the French Public Health Code

For all cosmetic surgery services, the person concerned and, where applicable, their legal representative in the case of a minor, their proxy under a future protection mandate, the person exercising family habilitation or their guardian when their mission of representation extends to the protection of the person, must be informed by the practitioner responsible of the conditions of the operation, the risks and possible consequences and complications. This information must be accompanied by a detailed estimate. There must be a minimum period of time between the submission of the estimate and the actual operation. During this period, no consideration whatsoever may be demanded or obtained from the person concerned, nor may any commitment be made, with the exception of fees for consultations prior to the operation.

Pour toute prestation de chirurgie esthétique, la personne concernée, et, s’il y a lieu, son représentant légal s’il s’agit d’un mineur, son mandataire dans le cadre du mandat de protection future, la personne exerçant l’habilitation familiale ou son tuteur lorsque leur mission de représentation s’étend à la protection de la personne, doivent être informés par le praticien responsable des conditions de l’intervention, des risques et des éventuelles conséquences et complications. Cette information est accompagnée de la remise d’un devis détaillé. Un délai minimum doit être respecté par le praticien entre la remise de ce devis et l’intervention éventuelle. Pendant cette période, il ne peut être exigé ou obtenu de la personne concernée une contrepartie quelconque ni aucun engagement à l’exception des honoraires afférents aux consultations préalables à l’intervention.
