Article L711-2 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

To satisfy the enforcement of a decision mentioned in 1° and 2° of article L. 700-1, the foreign national shall return to the country of which he is a national or any country, other than a Member State of the European Union, the Republic of Iceland, the Principality of Liechtenstein, the Kingdom of Norway or the Swiss Confederation, in which he is legally admissible.
However, if the foreign national is accompanied by a minor child who is a national of a Member State of the European Union or one of the States listed in the first paragraph and for whom he/she alone has effective custody, he/she is only required to join one of these States.
The foreign national who is the subject of a decision imposing an obligation to leave French territory may apply for an assisted return scheme in his/her country of origin.

Pour satisfaire à l’exécution d’une décision mentionnée aux 1° et 2° de l’article L. 700-1, l’étranger rejoint le pays dont il a la nationalité ou tout pays, autre qu’un Etat membre de l’Union européenne, la République d’Islande, la Principauté du Liechtenstein, le Royaume de Norvège ou la Confédération suisse, dans lequel il est légalement admissible.
Toutefois, si l’étranger est accompagné d’un enfant mineur ressortissant d’un Etat membre de l’Union européenne ou d’un des États énumérés au premier alinéa et dont il assure seul la garde effective, il est seulement tenu de rejoindre un de ces États.
L’étranger qui fait l’objet d’une décision portant obligation de quitter le territoire français peut solliciter un dispositif d’aide au retour dans son pays d’origine.
