Article L7112-2 of the French Labour Code

In newspaper and periodical companies, in the event of termination by either party of the open-ended employment contract of a professional journalist, the period of notice, subject to 3° of Article L. 7112-5, is set at :

1° One month for seniority of less than or equal to three years ;

2° Two months for seniority of more than three years.

However, when the termination is initiated by the employer and the employee has been with the company for more than two years and less than three years, the employee benefits from the notice period provided for in 3° of article L. 1234-1.

Dans les entreprises de journaux et périodiques, en cas de rupture par l’une ou l’autre des parties du contrat de travail à durée indéterminée d’un journaliste professionnel, la durée du préavis, sous réserve du 3° de l’article L. 7112-5, est fixée à :

1° Un mois pour une ancienneté inférieure ou égale à trois ans ;

2° Deux mois pour une ancienneté supérieure à trois ans.

Toutefois, lorsque la rupture est à l’initiative de l’employeur et que le salarié a une ancienneté de plus de deux ans et de moins de trois ans, celui-ci bénéficie du préavis prévu au 3° de l’article L. 1234-1.
