Article L7121-9 of the French Labour Code

The activity of artistic agent, whether it is exercised under the name of impresario, manager or under any other name, consists of receiving a mandate for consideration from one or more performing artists for the purpose of placing and representing their professional interests.

A Conseil d’Etat decree sets out the terms of the written mandate referred to in the first paragraph and the respective obligations of the parties.

No person may act as an artistic agent if he or she is, directly or through an intermediary, a producer of cinematographic or audiovisual works.

L’activité d’agent artistique, qu’elle soit exercée sous l’appellation d’impresario, de manager ou sous toute autre dénomination, consiste à recevoir mandat à titre onéreux d’un ou de plusieurs artistes du spectacle aux fins de placement et de représentation de leurs intérêts professionnels.

Un décret en Conseil d’Etat fixe les modalités du mandat écrit visé au premier alinéa et les obligations respectives à la charge des parties.

Nul ne peut exercer l’activité d’agent artistique s’il exerce, directement ou par personne interposée, l’activité de producteur d’œuvres cinématographiques ou audiovisuelles.
