Votes are taken by open ballot whenever one-sixth of the members present or the representative of a group of elected representatives so requests. In the event of a tie, the President has the casting vote.
However, votes on appointments are always taken by secret ballot in cases where the law or the regulations expressly so provide. In other cases, the Assembly of Martinique may decide unanimously not to proceed with nominations by secret ballot.
The results of public ballots, stating the names of those voting, are reproduced in the minutes.
