Article L723-10 of the French Commercial code

Elections for commercial court judges are held by a two-round majority multi-member ballot.

Candidates who obtain a number of votes at least equal to a majority of the votes cast and a quarter of the registered voters are declared elected in the first round. If no candidate is elected or if there are still seats to be filled, the election is won in the second round by a relative majority of the votes cast. If two or more candidates obtain the same number of votes in the second round, the oldest is declared elected.
